Mediation
Judge Kell applies almost 40 years of courtroom experience to assist in the prompt and fair resolution of cases in a comfortable atmosphere. Mediation at RTS is a professional and personal experience.
Judge Kell has a wide range of mediation experience including extensive experience in both personal injury and high-value divorce actions.
RTS has facilities for multi-party mediations, with access to six individual conference and meeting spaces, large and small. There is abundant parking adjacent to the building, and lunch and snacks are provided (no additional charge).
Trial Consulting
RTS in available for trial consulting on large and small matters of ongoing and anticipated litigation. Providing the perspective of a 15-year trial judge, a 40-year trial attorney, a veteran of over 200 jury trials and thousands of bench trials (as well as extensive appellate experience), and a seasoned objective judgment, Kell provides insight and knowledge as a consultant in civil cases throughout Georgia.
Education
RTS provides educational consulting and trial practice training based upon Judge Kell’s 40 years of courtroom experience and over 200 jury trials as a judge and a trial attorney. Judge Kell has taught extensively throughout his career, including the development of a curriculum for training all new Superior Court Judges in Georgia, which he taught for over a decade. Currently, Judge Kell serves as an adjunct professor at the University of Georgia School of Law in Athens, teaching both Trial Practice and Georgia Practice and Procedure. Kell also frequently teaches on the topic of legal writing to judges, attorneys and law students.
RTS provides in-house training in trial practice at litigation-based firms in Georgia with offices across the country.
Special Master
In cases requiring special attention or a specific level of expertise, Judge Kell can assist the trial judge in preparing a case for all aspects of trial. His experience from 15 years on the Superior Court bench makes Special Master work a natural fit for Judge Kell. He is currently assisting with two high-value divorce cases in Central Georgia and a complex governmental contracts matter in Atlanta.
Judge Tain Kell
Judge Tain Kell is a distinguished legal professional with a 15-year tenure as a Superior Court Judge in Cobb County, Georgia, serving from 2007 to 2022. Following his retirement in May 2022, he founded Renaissance Trial Solutions in Marietta, Georgia, offering expert mediation and trial consulting services. He also serves as an adjunct professor at the University of Georgia School of Law, teaching trial practice and mentoring the next generation of legal professionals.
Judge Kell’s legal career spans over three decades, beginning at the Georgia State Attorney General’s Office from 1987 to 1997, followed by roles as a partner at Troutman Sanders and a shareholder at Brock Clay law firm in Cobb County. His extensive practice in civil litigation included approximately 100 jury trials in state and federal courts, as well as appellate litigation at all levels.
As the owner of Renaissance Trial Solutions, Judge Kell specializes in mediation for civil and domestic cases and provides strategic trial consulting. He is a co-host of The Good Judge-ment Podcast, sharing insights on legal practice and judicial perspectives. Committed to judicial education, he instructs all new Superior Court judges at the Institute of Continuing Judicial Education’s New Judge Orientation.
A native of Marietta, Judge Kell graduated from Wheeler High School before earning his Bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Juris Doctor from the University of Georgia. In 2022, he furthered his expertise with a Master’s degree in Judicial Studies from the University of Nevada, Reno.
